In an attempt to secure a rental before my move, my wife and I will be visiting Louisville in a few weeks. We'll be looking for/viewing places within a couple mile radius of Cherokee park during the days and staying at 21C.

I'm looking for recommendations for food and entertainment. What places do you find yourself going back to again and again?

I've got a pretty broad palate food wise; indian, thai, persian, southern, it's all tasty if done right.

Music wise I'm mostly interested in finding talented local artists to support. I'm not a fan of the typical singer/songwriter, but would love to find some roots blues, trad jazz, and bluegrass artists/groups. In case the dates matter here: I'll be in town the evenings of June 16th-18th.

21c is incredible. proof on main is inside and is a nice place to eat. My favorite places to eat seem to be located on east market these days. harvest, wiltshire and mayan cafe for dinner. toast on market for breakfast ( get there before 8 or be prepared to wait)
there are also great places near cherokee like avalon, seviche and the uptown cafe.

as far as the music goes, maybe someone else can chime in. it's really hit or miss depending on the date. don't get me wrong, there are a ton of live music venues.

last thing= stay away from fourth street live unless you're twenty-something, like dancing to bad music and are trying to get laid! lol

I love hearing this as a 22 yr old virgin.

If you want some good chicken while you are here, head to Indi's off of Broadway, the best you will ever taste. Also there is a good mediterrian place off preston Hwy right next to I-264.
