I will be coming to Lousiville the weekend of July 9th & 10th. I have never been to the area and I have a few questions.

I am staying at a hotel on Forrest Green Blvd, is that a safe area?

I will be venturing into downtown around the 4th St. Live complex, is that area safe? Any recommendations on places to eat around there?

When I leave I will be heading east through Kentucky, any good local BBQ places I should try?

Any recommendations on routes I can take heading east that will take me through horse or bluegrass country?

Thank you in advance!

Forest Green Blvd should be fine. 4th St Live should be fine and has a number to places to eat. I'd try FireFresh BBQ. You may want to take the Bluegrass Pkwy from Elizabethtown to Lexington area if you want scenery.

I'm a little nervous about the Forest Green area, but then, I'm a wussy! 4th Street Live is fine almost any time.

For good BBQ, try Pig City.

Was in Louisville back in February. While I can't answer your first question, Fourth Street Live seemed perfectly safe. Didn't see any different than your typical late night bar scene in a college town. A lot of fun!
