Mayor Robert Reichert presented his plans to make Macon vibrant.

Reichert wants to expand the public transportation system. He wants more bus stops as far west as Middle Georgia State University. He also wants to go as far east as GEICO. Reichert believes more access to public transportation will bring more people downtown.

“It will bring in new retail opportunities. That brings in job opportunities. It would bring in new industrial opportunities. That’s more jobs coming in, and more and more people are liking this walk-able urban environment

Macon should go for BRT or express buses of some type. I don't see regular buses alone during all of which the mayor proposes. Americans with the mean of other transportation don't like buses if they aren't dressed up like light rail cars. The transportation needs to be reliable and permanent if it is to foster development.

they used to have buses going to WRAFB & Geico. not enough riders so they stopped those routes. the ocmulgee bus has expanded its route to include Amerson Park, River Crossing, bus then go weslyan dr to forest hill rd back to northside. some of the other route have few changes. bass pro bus has been dropped.

If there is demand fine, but like Chipspeed said... There used to be routes to Geico and the base...few used it. If there is no longer a stop at Middle GA State then that is a change from years ago too. The reality is that in small and midsize cities where traffic and parking are not issues, usually only the poor use public transit. They don't typically have jobs like those at Geico and the base. It is what it is.
