If I heard this right, the owners of Macon Mall have defaulted on their mortgage...the plan is to close the mall early next year. Is this true?

Looks like they are closing. A lot of stores are closing. Can't be good. The Macon market is too saturated right now. I expect you will see a lot of other closings as well. The economy is just too bad.

Columbus lost their first mall years and years ago even when economy was booming....
North Crossing has store closings earmarked to be coming after xmas...Circuit City,Pier One etc. according to a councilman and more were mentioned at last Chamber meeting.
I think Smokey Bones and 2 or 3 other eateries are on the way out already.
Columbus has always been late for the prize and will decline rapidly now that the better paying jobs have been snuffed and families are moving to better areas.

Columbus Square was so riddled with crime, theft and even rape that it had to be purchased by the city for a dime on a dollar.

You are so bitter inside. You must live an unhappy, boring life to spend all day on here trying to cut a city down. If you are so unhappy, why haven't you left???? Answer that!

I have lived in Columbus longer than you have been alive and what was once a vibrant peaceful community has now been trashed by various corrupt city officials and business owners many who have long passed or moved out of town after they filled their pockets.
The truth hurts as they say.....
You are trying to make a goldmine out of a landfill with bogus posts.
The city is history......let it go

That doesn't mean it won't close down. Greenville Mall here was sold and torn down to make way for a new lifestyle center.
