Here are a couple of good links to monitor our "high water" situations. Central Washington County has the highest snow pack anywhere in Maine. We are supposed to get a lot of rain in the next 48 hours. Just a word to the wise.

2.57 inches of warm rain hit here in the past 24 hours.

Lots of snow is disappearing quickly.

Any truth to those flood plain maps? 100 year, 500 year ect..

My buddy down south has a cabin on a river and despite its 100 or 500 year floodplain map (even being one the river??) they have been flodded 3 times in the last 20 years.. Luckily for him its a vacation cabin.

Our snow pack has dropped about 20 inches since Saturday. I have not see much runoff from my property. Much of this rain has remained in our snow pack. This is going to let our deer move around more easily.

I think that most times when man tries to tell nature what nature is supposed to do; nature will go right ahead and do as nature pleases. Which is often the opposite of what man has stated that nature will do.

Snow's all gone here...for the moment. That could change...at any moment.

Didn't take any rain to do it, either. That higher sun is amazing!

We still have about 1 1/2 to two feet of snow on the ground here. That's plenty. It is melting daily and there is supposed to be some rain on Friday which will help. I got my smelt shack off today just in case though there is still PLENTY of ice this year. Probably over two feet where my shack was on the Androscoggin. We could see some significant ice jams when it goes out!
