I just discovered what Seasonal vs year round means in housing, but what's the difference in owning a house vs a home that's labeled a Camp?

Usually way less amenities in a camp. Does it have electricity? a well? plumbing? indoor septic that isn't a clivis or out house or composter? insulation in the walls for winter use? heating that will work in the winter?

Mine is considered a year round camp. It does have all things as a house in town. Just "camp grade".......and less neighbors...LOL.

In my township, there are year-round occupied dwellings that are off-grid, and there are seasonally occupied dwellings.

I think the lines get blurred.

My property in Western Maryland was really a camp. While it was year round, and had insulation and a capable wood stove to heat the house in zero temps, it has only batteries and a generator for electricity, and a mouldering toilet. It had no plumbing. It was isolated with 40 acres of woodland surrounded by more than 1000 acres of other people's woodland. You took a dirt road to get there, and another 750 foot dirt road to get the house through the property. For a long time I could only get into the property with my Jeep Wrangler and a couple of times I got it stuck in the mud.

You could stay there, but you wouldn't have showers to take and you had to use the water that came into a tank from the rain. No power lines or phone lines in.

Sounds nice

A sand-point well with a hand-pump and it would be good to go!

Default closets

I bought a year round home on a lake. Built in the 70s as a camp and winterized I soon learned the difference between a camp and a home. A camp has no closets.

Over the years I've turned every nook and cranny into closet/shelved/storage and still not enough so then I realized it was a good thing and threw out all the crap I'd been holding on to for years.
