My wife and I are moving to Maine very soon. She is covered by Humana Health Plan in Florida. I don't think they are in Maine. I don't want to sign her up to a crappy plan. Does anybody have any suggestions for a plan to join? (she has Humana in place of Medicare)

Forest, aren't they only for military or retired military? Perhaps they've opened enrollment for other HMO's now?

I do not know exactly what the prequisites are to get into Martins Point, I know that my employer does offer Martins Point.

It is my understanding that most folks in this area under the DOD umbrella do have some eligibility with Martins Point and are not aware of their option to use Martins Point.

I have spoken with vets who are using Togus and are under the impression that Togus is their only option. Togus is fine if that is all that is available for you, but if you have a better option, perhaps an option with docs who carried a GPA of above a 'D', then why not go for it?

Last weekend at church I spoke with a gentleman who is eligible to use Togus, but is trying everything else he can find to avoid going to Togus [for obvious reasons], so I recommended that he check with Martins Point to see if he qualified to get into their system.

I like it as it allows me and my Dw to be seen by doctors, who have gone to college and medical school, unlike most of our medical coverage for the past 25 years.

This is a fantastic improvement. Right now my Primary Care P is a Russian immigrant doctor, she has been through college and medical school, which is eight years more training than most 'docs' who have treated me [or my family] since 1976.

I have no idea if 'LeavingFla' is eligible are not.

Martins Point says that they: "accept all major health insurance plans", and that they offer care to the employees of their "Point-partner Employers" [whoever those employers are I have no idea, though I must assume that some employers in Maine are members of the 'point-partners'].

Humana is not in Maine nor do they have any plans to go past Ohio and Kentucky.

Today I heard a radio commercial for Martin's Point.

It sounds like they are enrolling the general public.

Hello leavingfla!

Forest beekeeper is correct, Martin's Point does take care of retired military and active duty dependents through one of their plans, the US Family Health Plan, and they do have a wellness and health management plan for the self insured employers but that's just a fraction of what they do.[/font]

Some facts about Martin’s Point:

They are a not-for-profit organization.

Have four primary health care centers that accept all types of insurance plans.

The radio advertisement you heard is for their Medicare plan, Generation Advantage.

Their Health Benefits Specialist do not make commission; so they get paid the same regardless if you enroll in a plan or not. If they can’t help you, they will direct you to someone who can.

If you are interested, send me a message and I can give you their contact information!

Take Care and good luck with the move!

Nichole
