I'm an RN and have been doing some research on what nurses make in Maine. Data seems to be conflicting. I'm getting 20-22/hr for new grads. Anybody here a nurse or a know a nurse and what do they make? I'm really interested in what RN's make in Northern Maine...

$20-22 per hour is about right for a new grad acute care RN in Southern Maine. Long term care slightly less. Northern Maine will be slightly lower as well. But that's "the ball park" for a new grad.

I've heard from $18 - $22.

Here's a link to surf through...maybe you can find some more specific info within.

Good luck.

Where about in Northern Maine? It varies widely between the hospitals.

My wife is an RN with 12 years experience in the ER with both the CCRN and CEN certifications (Only one in her hospital to hold both at that time). She is cross trained to work anywhere, including the OR, except OB. She is charge capable in all positions except OB/OR as well. At Cary Medical Center in Caribou she was making $23.69 as her base rate when we left almost 2 years ago. The rate was almost exactly the same at the hospital in Presque Isle for her. A bit further north at the hospital in Fort Kent it was a couple dollars an hour lower. New grad RN's were only $1.50 or $2 lower at Cary .

Hope this gives you some place to start.

I know a head nurse at a rural hospital making $19/hr. At a larger hospital you might get a $18-21/hr position plus shift differentials.

Be aware that many of the rural hospitals are reducing hours and even laying off right now.

And when Obamacare kicks in you'll probably have to work at Wal-Mart to make ends meet!

No nursing layoffs in the County, at least not yet.

You will find that the salaries here are competitive with the rest of the state. The hospitals have made a real push to fill the nursing shortages by offering better packages.
