Hi:

I am a single mom who will be relocating to either ellicott city or colmubia next month. I will be working in DC near the foggy bottom
Metro station. I have a six year old daughter that I will need to find a good aftercare program for. Basically, I need her to be picked up from school, given a snack, and get help with her homework. I will also need the program to keep her until 6:30 pm given the long commute. Any suggestions?

Depending on the elementary school, the Columbia Association provides afterschool services at some of the elementary schools (and Middle Schools). The Howard County Parks and Rec also provides afterschool services to some of the schools.
However, you really need to look into registration for both to make sure they are not full if you are moving in the middle of the school year. I know there is a waiting list at our elementary school.

Yes, CA fills up. At our school we could only get into before care; we are waitlisted for after care. But in any case, CA only goes to 6 p.m.
