That's the option I keep considering, IF I were to live/work in the region. Wonder how many people do that....and what they think of it...

I do know one well-off couple who keep a town-house in Dupont Circle, and go out to their farm in outer Montgomery County on the weekends. They keep a horse boarded somewhere near the farm. I think he is a lawyer, but not everyone can afford that life-style.

Yep, that sounds very well-off.

I guess I was thinking of the opposite way. The family lives in the 'countryside', and a small studio is purchased somewhere within DC (location unimportant - mostly likely in a cheaper less safe area, simply for cost effective reasons), and it's just a place to crash several nights of the week.
