I am so sad. I had to leave my house in Pittsville. Moderator cut: off topic
We havent yet had a serious buyer for the house we have for sale in Pittsville/Ocean City area. So sadly, I had to leave it in the Realtor's hands...we are now living in a old house near the golf course where my husband's new job is.
Here is what I miss...
driving to thrashers on weekends and getting hot fries...
sitting in the car watching the ocean and eating the fries...
looking for shells on the beach...
taking the grand dog for walks on the beach...
my neighbor Claude...
Bay Shore Community Church....
my Daughter and Son in Law who still live in Ocean City...

Here is what I have in Harford now...
Old empty outdated house with no carpet, cold on the toes...yes it is a roof over my head.
One day we have water, one day we dont.
One day we have electricity, one day we dont.
Scared to really leave the house...high crime just south of I 95.
My cats made the move with me...they are now my spider catchers. Yes I
said "spider catchers".
Lots of spiders. we sprayed, they ignored us.
Sad face, empty heart, tears, lots and lots of tears.

I hope it will be better once we find a house . We are looking in Forest Hill, Fallston and Bel Air North (yes there is a bel air north and bel air south...for those of you looking I would avoid bel air south..too close to Edgewood for me).
Signed Sad Colleen

Ah ha! Now I know why we disagreed before. I moved to Harford county in January also. But I moved from Fairfax County, VA. I see Harford as much slower, lower crime, cleaner, and cheaper. LOL Its all your frame of reference

I agree with "rubytue". All experiences and/or reactions to a place with depend on the individual's needs, willingness and openness to change and ability to adapt.

"Relotomd", your feelings are valid in every way because it sounds like you left something wonderful, familar and comfortabe, and traded it in for its stark opposite. But, unless you are willing to TRY and find the good points (however insignificant) about your new home, then you are condemning yourself to a miserable existence. And, life is just too good to waste any part of it in willful misery. I've been where you are, and it's really all about perspective.

I do wish you luck in your road to adaptation and adjustment. You can do this, you just need to want to do it.

Harford County is one of the nicest counties in Maryland. It has a ridicuously low crime rate, a great school system, the Chesapeake Bay is right there for beautiful views and recreation, and Baltimore is only 40ish minutes away. I think that someone is just homesick and misses their hometown, but Harford County is a wonderfully nice county.

I disagree! It is congested, crime is very high-otherwise why do you have gang task forces?,so I would hardly call it "ridiculously low", it has superfund areas that leak into your wells (just look up superfund sites Harford county and also there are 4 in Cecil), the housing prices are astronomical and were almost all built in the 1960's.

ASTRONIMICAL??? Are you sheltered from the rest of the state? I moved from PG and the SFH I bought in Harfard was 200K less than what i would buy in PG. And it is close to Baltimore, so it may be a bit more congested to your liking. I agree, you are homesick and that is why you did not adjust. Others who transplanted to HarCo from other high crime, heavily congested areas and even B'more city appreciate Harfard because it has thousands less crime rate index than anywhere else close to the city. we have a task force because the police force is proactive. and just because gang activity moved into our area does not mean it will NEVER come to Wicomico. So maybe you lived somewhere better than HarCo, but most of us can't live in Wicomico for the simple fact of job options and stability. Just because you don't like the county, you can't knock others for what THEY like in the county on every board because you miss your town.

If you think Wicomico county doesnt have a crime problem then you must not read the news. Salisbury has one of the highest crime rates per capita in the state and unless you never leave your house its impossible to not make your way there(for shopping, groceries etc). Im still perplexed as to why ppl from the Eastern Shore have a distorted view about anything negative related to the E.S? Maybe someone can clue me in. Every town/county has its good/bad points, but having a one-sided ideology about a certain town will only make the move/adjustment harder.

What town do you live in? I am guessing you must live in either edgewood or aberdeen because those are the only two towns in Harford County that have gang activity and it is pretty minor.

She was living in Joppatowne, but she is gone now. Never heard her say one nice thing about Harford.

Good riddance! She gave such an unrealistic picture of HarCo that people would think we live in Baltimore...
