Hi all,

Could someone tell me what to make of the cryptic information on FEMA's website?

All I have been able to come up with are tiny barely readable maps which don't show any relevant info. Now, I understand there are pay sites out there that claim to provide all kinds of info regarding flood plains and flood insurance requirements, such as these:

My question is are these worth paying for and what kind of info can I expect to get from them?

Aha! I finally found something. While not the map I was looking for, some useful info on record crests of the Connecticut River and areas that are prone to flooding:
