I am looking to make a career change and take the home inspection course - would like to speak to a home inspector first to answer some initial questions regarding market conditions, average salary, work load, etc.

Thanks....

Coming from a Realtors perspective you need to have a pleasant "bedside manner" so to speak. Over the years I have seen home inspectors kill deals with the way they deliver their findings. All houses even new ones have issues but it is how the "bad news" is conveyed.

The busy home inspectors are busy because they do a good job in bringing to light potential problems that can then be negotiated. The deal killers do a lot of sitting around because word gets around that they are alarmists that make buyers run away and not walk back to the negotiating table.

As for work load the good inspectors are busy and make several hundreds of dollars per day when the market is on the move up. The deal killers don't make much.

It all depends on the market. If houses are selling and you are good you will be busy all week long.
