The State Police overtime scandal dates back more than 20 years — far earlier than previously thought — and was part of a scheme hatched by top commanders who pushed troopers to write citations as part of an illegal ticket quota system, according to a former lieutenant facing state charges.

1) Just a few bad apples.
2) Only happens in Mass!
3) I'd rather cops get the money than other lazy, useless government employees, they put their lives at risk to protect us!
4) There are good people on each side.

Mock all you want but number 2 is basically correct. These things tend to happen in places where the government is basically controlled by Democrats.

I would argue that this particular union is only governed by themselves. Looks like nobody controls them.

No, no it is not correct. Police corruption is widespread. Now, it probably comes to light more in certain places.

Although, perhaps you believe places like Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee (TN lost an entire police force last year over corruption!) etc are all Democrat controlled.

Corruption? Yes. Corruption in the form of excessive OT to make $250k/year? Not as widespread.

No, in cheaper cost of living places where the wages are low, the total dollar value of the corruption will be lower. But someone slotted to make 40k working the system to making 80k, is no different at all from someone making 100k working the system for 200k. Heck, there isn't any real difference if its "just 10k" in corruption.

If you're claiming its a "democratic" control issues due to the dollar amount, its a self fulfilling prophecy as democratic controlled areas tend to be higher cost of living places due to their desirability.
