Kudos to the school for allowing the student to fix government property. I would think they would prohibit that from a liability standpoint, thinking he could sue if he got hurt trying, or the person allowing the fix would be personally liable if student's fix later caused an accident.

I am shocked that someone in charge made a prompt command decision to allow the student to fix the issue, as simple as it was.

I hope that person does not now get fired for it.

This is a good point, Igor.
In our litigious society this could be a very possible outcome.

I am hoping though this will be a good example of how educating kids in this direction can solve many issues.

I know rhe article says the bus "belongs" to the district, but it may actually belong to a school bus company. Our district has contracts with a bus company and they hire the drivers and do maintenance on them when it's needed. I thought that's what all the school districts in the state did.
