My husband and I are are trying to take a sabbatical to Hawaii for a month. Anyone know the best, most affordable condos ro stay in? We are looking to spend $1500 per month.

I hate to discourage you but your budget is pretty low. If money are a concern, I think Oahu is more affordable, although still wouldn't cut it for $1500/month

I agree that $1500 is way low; keeping in mind that this is Maui we're talking about not Boonville, MO.

Those rates are negotiable. Don't forget that. Most of the owners post high prices, hoping to get a bite. It is like dealing with car salesman.

Agreed, $1,500 per month is low. As a vacation rental owner on Oahu I don't offer deep discounts on the theory that if you believe my place isn't worth the money, you will treat it as such. This doesn't apply to every situation but if you approach an owner with a lowball offer they may simply turn you down. Done it many times myself.

So, if someone tried to ask you for a long term rental at 1500 you wouldn't consider it. Even if they have good credit, good housekeeping standards? And do you accept dogs (no they don't do their "business in the house at all" or chew up things or wreck things.
Just curious.

Suzie - you are responding to a thread over 2 years old.

$1,500 was low in 2011 - and it is even higher now. Especially if you have a dog.

No problem. Just look at the upper left corner of each post to get the history.
