Hello Ladies and Gents,
My wife and I live in an apartment in Cordova, and we're ready to purchase our first home! We'ld prefer a new home.
Any ideas on descent homes/builders/subdivisions between 130s and 200s?? Anyone we should avoid??
We're looking for something in Bartlett, Arlington, Lakeland, Olive Branch...
Thanks for the replies!!

check my bud, Rusty or Kevin over at Hyneman Builders.. he builds an adequate and cheap house- not great, but reasonable- stick with Arlington or Lakeland if possible

Well, there isn't much new construction going on right now - and I'd avoid partially completed subdivisions unless there are very few undeveloped lots. Since it's a buyers market you could probably find a better deal on an almost-new home.A good real estate agent could help you narrow down your choices. I know a very good one....send me a Direct Message if you want her contact info...

Brand new homes for under $200K in Arlington, Lakeland or Bartlett are going to be few and far between. Just about all the subdivisions in recent years have started above that price in those areas. I'm not sure about Olive Branch...

I've seen a lot of 200K and under houses advertised in the OB/Southaven area. There are some deals to be made on houses that have been on the market for a while.

Do yourself a favor, Don't buy a Hyneman built house. My first house was and they were nothing but a headache. The stories I could tell

Under 200k will buy you a 2,000 sq foot 3 or 4 bedroom house in Olive Branch. $130k will still get you a starter home, and 200k will give you and any family more home than anyone will ever need - i.e. - not a McMansion, but a good size home with some extra amenities.
