Hi all. I am flying into Miami in December for a cruise. My flight gets in around 7AM in the morning the day of the cruise. I suspect I probably can't get on the cruise ship until 12:30-1:00...what can I do in the meantime...I won't have a car so I considered just staying at the airport until I can take a shuttle to the cruise ship terminal but it's gonna be rather weird since I will have luggage with me. I was in Miami last month so I have already done the tourist stuff..and I've been there a few times before..

What should I do?

Is there somewhere near MIA where I can just hang out...go eat breakfast..crash...or something...

May be tough since you will have your luggage as you stated. There are places in the airport you can hang out. They have restaurants, bars, etc.

Also, don't they let you get on the ship around 10AM?

You can get something to eat at MIA but since you get in early might as well get to the boat early and do the check in process and everything so you can get on the boat early. Even if your room is not ready on the ship you can eat and relax, enjoy the great views from the ship in the port of Miami. The cruise terminals are decent at Miami so they will be fine to wait around for a little bit.

You can start boarding at 1pm so you do have time to kill. As far as what to do? I'm not sure as you'll have luggage with you..

I'd go right to the Port... you could stop Downtown and check out the Miami Art Museum and the History Museum, but with luggage it might be kind of hard.

I can't think off the top of my head of any hotel that's busy enough (so as not to be noticed) and has a dedicated bell captain desk... if so you could just pretend like you just stayed at the hotel and just need them to hold your bags for a few hours until your cruise

LOL, thanks everyone! I think I might buy a day pass to the airport club for the time being. It's $50 for a pass and has a few things I might actually use like a shower..lol! Plus just having a place to rest helps a lot.

You could take a cab ride to Miami Beach and hang out there for several hours, then take a cab ride to the cruise port. Miami Beach is only a 5-10 minutes cab ride from the cruise port. The only thing is you'd have to carry your luggage around.

Try to get your luggage checked in early if that option is possible, if not then I suggest staying close to the area and taking shifts to watch the luggage and exploring that area of Miami

I don't see why you couldn't wheel your luggage around Miami Beach. I did this when I visited NYC. Miami Beach is a safe area and nobody will try and mug you walking around Collins or Washington. You could probably even bring your luggage onto the actual beach, although it would look weird. But as long as you have your luggage in your possession or right by you nobody will steal it. Just don't swim in the ocean and leave your bags unattended.
