I'm looking for apartments near the JMH/Med Campus / Civic Center. Basically, I prefer to be within walking distance of the hospital. Some particular apartments I found are Tropical Point Condos and Somerset. What are your thoughts on these apartments? Thanks!

Anything that close to Jackson is not going to be the safest area to be honest. You would be better off living downtown or in brickell and taking the metro a couple stops.

I know some give it that "unsafe" reputation, but there are quite a bit condo options suitable for UM students or JMH employees. Sure the area is diverse, but that doesn't mean one should just disregard the whole area. I was just looking for specific reviews of condos, not the area in general. Thanks though.

Understandable, however I used to work at Jackson as a UM student. I can tell you it's not safe. During labs we had a couple students mugged around the area. Huge homeless population as well. This coming from a guy from the Bronx.

Also you are talking about 2 stops on the metro (ie 5 minutes) from brickell, downtown and midtown. Most students and posts grads like myself choose brickell downtown for that very reason. I would even recommend coral ways if you don't mind a slightly longer commute.

I agree with Pierrekid but if you don't mind that area I would stick with it. You'll definitely be saving money! Those condos look great and If you'd like I can help you find more in either area. PM me if you'd like details!
