Has anyone seen the ridiculous waste going on at the 874 expressway expansion? They have demolished the existing concrete bridge railings to put up new, flimsier ones. The stupidity never ceases to amaze me!

No it is on the three bridges from 1974, over Miller, Galloway and Sunset. You can drive by and see them working over the railroad at the moment.

I haven't been on that part of the 874 in a while. Does it look like they will be adding any lanes there?

If it's the highway I'm thinking about, they are expanding it. It's been a mess for awhile now.

I think the railings were removed because they are widening all of the bridges.

The problem is that one side is not being widened, I have a feeling it was done just to increase the cost of the project and enrich some well-connected individuals. In 2000 the turnpike widened the same kinds of bridges, but left the other sides alone.

It's not stupid.. It's very smart to justify money with conning contracts.
