I'm starting a job this coming week on Sunset Dr.(near American Apparel) I know there's a parking garage and meters but is there anywhere to park that's free or cheap?

There is a Metrorail station one block away. If you have to drive to park-and-ride at another station, parking is $10/month for monthly pass users (monthly passes are $100, some employers offer discounts). Depending on where you live, it may be worth it. In addition to parking, US1 traffic can be horrific. There is also a City municipal garage and some others which may have monthly parking, but it wouldn't be free or particularly cheap. If you live close enough, bike parking is free

Some places have parking behind the stores for their employees only. Street parking in South Miami is all metered and they come around ticketing even on the weekend night ... There are two big garages (one at the mall the other above Outback Steakhouse). Ask your employer where you can park because they may have a deal with one of the garages.
