Greetings,

I went online yesterday to pay my registration renewel for my car. However I noticed that the FL DMV still has 3 old cars (15-21 years ago!!) listed under my name still. Someone at dmv 20 years ago never removed this after cars were sold and/or traded.

I went to local dmv today (waited 1 hours 10 mins) in line and get the standard cold response, " We cant do that here", you have to call Tallahassee?! What?!
Im there in person to remove these old cars and now they want me to call tally and God know fill out some paperwork .. Not sure how to get these removed now.
Any input?

THX in S. FL

You mean the license plates? aren't they permanent and non transferable? odd that the titles are still under your name.

Not the plates.. Actually they (cars) are still "registered" under my name. The cars were sold/traded years ago, but FL DMV never removed them as being registered to me.. (though Im not surprised with the FL dmv) Very Antiquated

I had this happen to me years ago, the guy I sold the car too, took it out of the country so it never got transferred. I printed out a Notice of Sale from the DMV website and filled it out. Then mailed it to Tally along with a note explaining the situation. It got taken care of.

What about if you don't have the contact information of the person you sold the car to?

The OP did say he sold his cars 15-21 years ago. I would imagine most people don't keep that kind of information for so long.

I used the address I had which was a warehouse in Hialeah of his brother. He didn't sign it obviously, as it was years later. Like I mentioned, I wrote a letter with the Sale form. And they took care of it. I bet this happens a lot and they've dealt with this situation many times.
