Just moved to Coral Gables last week. The city we came from had a threatre with a HUGE screen, stadium seating and comfy chairs with high backs. Any suggestions near by me now?

Thanx in advance.

The closest nice stadium-seating theater near you is Sunset Place in South Miami...a hope and a skip away from CG.

Have fun !

The closest one to you is in Sunset Place at Red Road and US 1.
It is not huge, but has stadium seating and several nice stores to visit afterwards.

I actually prefer the movies at The Falls in Kendall (even though they do not have stadium seating.)
The mall is lovely, well-maintained and is nice to stroll through after the movie as it has an outdoor waterfall type setting.
(As well as many good resturants to enjoy, after the movie.)

Have Fun and welcome!

Guess we posted at the same time, "heydade"!
Good Shot!

Nice shot huh ? Not mine though...just from google images. I concur with Besitomio...Falls is beautiful and much nicer compared to Sunset Place in my opinion. BUT....once you get spoiled with stadium style seating at the movies, it's hard not to sit in anything else.

I grew up near the Falls and remember the OLD Falls. Anyone remember when you walked into the old movie theater at the old Falls the big picture of the Wolfman on the wall near the concessions stand ? I remember it so well...those were the days.

When the Falls opened in 1982, wow did it seem like a mall out of paradise. The entire concept was very aesthetically pleasing. What was the name of that restaurant out "on the water" that they had in there? I think it was shut down after Hurricane Andrew, but that place used to have some real life to it from what I saw.

The old theater was great, yes. Not only the picture of the Wolfman as you'd mentioned, but other black and white movie memorabilia also correct? And inside, the screen filler that they put on before the previews began was that oily bubble looking design.

Wow, FAST replies! Thanx everyone! I shop at Whole Foods regularly, so I know right where Sunset Place is. Happy to hear they have Stadium seating! I'll check out the Falls in Kendall sometime soon as well.

Thanks again to everyone here. Mostly in moving I have just read this forum, but the few occassions I have needed to start a thread everyone has been great. Rare for a web forum.

It's not necessarily close to the Gables, but the Regal on South Beach is nice. Ticket prices are actually pretty comparable to elsewhere in Miami, too. It's convenient if you happen to be on the beach for dinner or shopping.

Thanks. We do frequent SOBE, for restaurants and beach (non-holiday weekends). Be nice to have a theatre there for afternoon shows and such. I'll check it out.

Yea, with that great Chinese restaurant next to it.
I saw Star Wars at the Dixie Drive in theater in the 70's. I remember riding my bike to peak through the bushes hoping for some nudity when they showed "R" rated films. The Publix they built in its place was the highest volume Publix in the Company until Dadeland took its place at the top.
