depends on what part of the coast of FL too. The coast of Miami Beach is far different than the coast of Vero Beach or Melbourne. The west coast of FL is a lot different too, as is the coast of the FL Keys. You have to narrow it down more than just "the coast".

Well it depends what you want from your vacation. Do you want a quiet seculded place? Some West Coast areas in Florida and some of the Florida Keys can give you that but the Bahamas will be your best bet.

Do you want a huge resort that you do not need to leave the hotel to do anything. Nassau Pardise Island is your best option. Also they have a casino there too.

Do you want bars, night clubs, city and a beach than Miami Beach.

As far as the water is concerned Southeast Florida, Miami, Florida Keys has very simular water. No big waves clear water soft white sand. I still think Bahamian Beaches are the best in the Atlantic though. It is better than Miami Beaches since there are less people and the water tends to have less seaweed in the beaches I have been too. Miami Water is much of the time crystal clear though.

So if you want secluded quite beach go to some Out Island in the Bahamas,
Everything on the complex Resort- Nassau Paridise Island.
City with a nice beach: Miami or Key West.
All will be a lot of fun. If I could go to any right now I would chose the first one.
