Hi everyone,

I'm new to the site but have browsed for a while. Everyone here seems to know a lot about our great state so I figured this was worth a shot. I am finally going to ask my g/f to marry me when we go up north somewhere July 19th - July 23rd. I am just having a difficult time finding the best location. Obviously Mackinaw Island is an option but it's very expensive to stay at the nice places. Traverse City is another, plus they have a good downtown that would keep us entertained for 4 nights.

We are both younger (24) so we would obviously like a place that has places for us to go celebrate (nice restaurants, bars, etc.) I'm open to any suggestions and lodging suggestions are a plus. Where is a good place to pop the question in that certain town?

Thanks a lot for your help everyone, keep up the good work!

My husband popped the question at the Lookout of the Pyramid Point hiking trail during a weekend in Glen Arbor. If you are even casual hikers and in the area, I'd recommend at least a trip there.

And congratulations!

I was actually going to suggest that, but not sure they would want to hike. If they dont mind a little hike, that is a beautiful spot!!

Thanks for the info! We don't do any hiking though

I did receive a call so the cottage on wanted in TC is available, so it looks like that's the spot. Does anyone have any recommendations of nice restaurants, bars, and a place to maybe ask her?

Thanks!

Not sure where you could ask her, but a buddy of mine owns a great brewery/bar in TC with tons of homemade brews. I would suggest that as one stop.

Northern Michigan Brewery::Kegs For Sale::Right Brain Brewery

If you really want to wow your GF...go north, cross the bridge , and find a spot on the shore of Lake Superior. I would recomend going to Whitefish Point, on a dune to do the deed,...then after you have had enough of the majestic big water...drive on down to the Soo, and book local lodging.... Your first trip to Superior will be long remembered, and could be the start of many more to come...once bitten, you are doomed to repeat it ! ( hopefully not your marrage...good luck ! ).

Man Snowman, maybe I should just do it in the brewery, that seems romantic to me!
