I'm just a 30 year old professional In the IT Field and was wondering if there were any computer companies out that way, or many computer support jobs available? I'm coming from florida and just need a change in scenery. Florida Sucks lol and I haft to say its the land of strip malls, mean people and getting more ghetto everyday. Orlando used to be a nice place back in the early 90's but now it's gone to hell and you got to learn spanish to get around these days. What a Sh**Hole!! Avoid this place!!!

I've been looking around the NLP area for ever - trying to move home. Not too much to be had unless you have umteen million different disciplines under your belt and are willing to work for $20k a year.

My step brother is one of those types but can't work for $20k a year. He was just let go from his IT job and had over a years notice to find new work - still nothing. All those who can are old folks who just sold their over priced home in the south and took the equity north and are living high on the hog with quite a cushion in the bank.

Like I said, I've been sending out resumes all over the NLP for a long time now. Have roots there, place to live, know the area, etc... But that doesn't even help. Whoever they can hire to get the most bang for their cheap buck is who gets the job.

Frustrating - but lack of work is why we left in the first place.

A friend of mine had a decent job until they cut it out a few years ago. He had to take a job paying a fraction of his previous pay in order to stay in TC, and he has tons of experience.

Sure alot of jobs in northern mich may not pay as great as else where but if you look hard enough and willing to work outside the box you can find a decent paying job in a great place to live. I know there are quite a few computer type jobs in the area. Check out monster or michiganworks.org. Good luck It s agreat place to live. I was just offered a good job in South Carolina but decided to stay here.

Telecommuting would be a good option, then you can be paid the higher salaries of elsewhere and live where you want.

Yeah I'm definitely not going up there unless I have a Job lined up. If it doesn't panout I have a few more places to move too. I need to move north and I know some places may have abundance of jobs but then again is there a quality of life where u can breath good air and leave your keys in the ignition
