I've met a few vets while paying for my own lunch and not realizing what was going on... Some vet groups seem to just meet up at certain places.

I always thought that the "free for veterans" deals were just to get people in the place. The management expects to see more than the single Veteran show up so they sell meals to those who came with him, or brought him. (Example- grandpa was in WWII and the whole family takes him out to dinner; kids, grandkids etc.)

I'm a veteran. I only go to certain veteran events, usually to help out. In my opinion, I believe you thought wrong....
