I didn't watch the video or read the article yet but the playground pic brought back a memory for me so I am possibly assuming what it's about...
I remember being a little girl, hearing the post bugle start and realizing if I ran really fast I might just make it to the cannon in time for the big blast that came right after the bugle stopped. I always felt like I lived in a movie when I did that because all the cars on Post would stop while I was running and people would get out to salute as the the flag was lowered every night. I always stopped short as soon as the last long note started so I could salute too.
Recently, someone asked me where I was born and when I told them my BF said "What? I thought you were from...". My reply was "I never actually lived in the state I was born in, I was ONLY born there."
Growing up all my friends always knew what that meant so it was weird, to me, that it was confusing to him!
I am proud of and will always be thankful that I was privileged enough to grow up as an Army brat.
