I am brand new to this site and trying to find out some info about VA benefits related to child support. The ex was found guilty of criminal non-payment of support last week, and the D.A. and I are trying to find out about the ex's VA benefits before the ex is sentenced. I know that the ex gets VA benefits in the form of a check every month. We also know he gets a SECOND check from VA each month and suspect it may be benefits for my children which he has been keeping for himself. Now here's the problem: I don't have a phone (can't afford one) and wouldn't know which department to contact even if did. I did email the question to the VA website but have not heard back within the promised five days. How the heck can I find out if the ex is hiding child benefits? Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.

That’s the job of the DA. The DA should subpoena the accounting of benefits from the VA and the military.

This page has a list of Toll Free Numbers for Contacting VA. I suggest you start contacting a person in the VA who will know what to ask you so they may be able to help you and guide you in the correct direction:

The prosecutor's office should also have a victim/witness advocate that can help you with this.

I've had better luck using the email portion of IRIS - choose Ask A Question from this link https://iris.custhelp.com/app/home/s...loZlFUbA%3D%3D
and choose E-mail for How Would You Like Us To Respond to Your Inquiry?

Good luck!

the amount he gets depends on the number of dependents and rate of disability.

doesn't seem to be a lot. If I had a dependent, at my rate, I would get an extra 65 dollars.

Good luck.

Can you go to your county VA office?
