This is the funeral of a Private who was killed during a battle with the Taliban in Afghanistan. The ceremony was held in Dundee, Scotland. His best friend wore a green dress to honor a long time agreement that if one of them dies, the other has to wear a bright green dress to the funeral.

The friend is clearly honoring a fallen comrade who had a great sense of humour.
I, too will add my own sense of sadness for all who have lost their lives and all those still fighting.

I was expecting a kilt ... got a little more than I bargained for but I can appreciate the fact that the friend kept his word.

Moving testimony to the British army's loss of life in Afghanistan

The promise I had to keep: to wear a dress at my fallen friend's funeral

Wriggling into the £4.99 Primark dress, Barry Delaney never paused to consider what others might think. He and his best pal Kevin Elliott had made a pact and that was all that mattered.
