I'm sure it's possible, depending on how able you are to schedule your classes around the Amtrak schedule. But I'm curious as to what classes you're looking to take in Chicago that you either can't find around here or are somehow worth the hassle of commuting.

Chicago is extremely accessible from Milwaukee--a round-trip Amtrak ticket is $23 and it takes about 1.5 hours to get there. I don't know if it's accessible enough for taking classes there, though.

If you want to go to college full-time, then I'd definitely consider moving to Chicago, or at least to Kenosha/Waukegan/somewhere in the Chicago metro.

It's $23 1 way, $46 roundtrip.

I suppose you could drive to Kenosha and hop on a UP-N Metra train, but that sounds like a pain. Although I read an article years ago that said there are some folks that do exactly that.

Oh, heh. Knew that was too good to be true.

As I remember, most of the UP-N Metra trains don't go all the way to Kenosha

If you're taking Amtrak to Union Station in Chicago...how long does it take to get from Union Station to your classroom? If it's not too far, I think it's doable. Being on the train is good study time.

Hmmm... the ITT Tech campus in Greenfield has game design, but I generally distrust for-profit institutions. That aside, I'd have to co-sign with what someone else said... move to Kenosha. The METRA access would make the commute be cheaper as would the cost of living (Apartments that will run you $500 in Milwaukee can usually be found in the high $300s or low $400s in Keno), but it's still close enough to Milwaukee that you wouldn't have to spend half the day making the trip back home.

Whether it's realistic or not is up to you. Unless you have some requirement that keeps you in the Milwaukee area, or are just taking a couple of classes that transfer to an education in progress elsewhere, I would not do it at all.

For full time school, I wouldn't even think about it.
