It is fairly difficult. I do see signs every once in a while but from what I have heard you may get hired but only get 10 hours/week. If you are a teenager, forget it.

My teen has been looking since August. She has had several interviews but everyone is hiring middle age and older people - more experience I guess. Not too many places hiring now.

I think you just missed your time to get an in. Lots of places hire termporary workers over the holidays, and you would have had an opportunity to work your tail off and impress the management- maybe they would have kept you. But finding a full-time job right now with little experience? Yikes.

The only people I know of right now that are hiring people with little experience would be the US Census and Theodore Wirth Park. Obviously both of those aren't at all retail related.

I don't know about retail but I know several people who have recently found jobs at restaurants. They never seem to stop hiring.

I have mentioned this before in another topic. My company doesn't post jobs anymore. Everyone here knows someone that needs a job.

Like DrPerp said, they're done hiring the seasonal help, and my work has started letting seasonal help go. It's going to be pretty difficult. Try looking at places opening soon, I know there's a new JoAnn Fabrics in Roseville that's opening in a couple months. Make sure you include a resume with your applications, and do follow up calls regarding your applications. Larger stores like Walmart and Target you might have better luck at. Some of the places that have job kiosks in the store will do an interview right away, so try to dress appropriately. Good luck!

Try to find work at a cafe or bistro or neighborhood restaurant as a food runner. You could also bus tables and host. Restaurants will be hiring more servers around March and April too when it warms up.
