My roommate and I live in a 3 bedroom duplex. She found the place and contacted me about renting it with her. She has been looking for a 3rd roommate and is paying 'their half' of the rent in the meantime (aka more than I pay per month). I returned from work tonight to find a 30 day notice slipped under my door. I spoke to my landlord who stated she has no knowledge of the notice nor for the reason behind it. We have a written lease that both my roommate and myself have signed, listing her as the primary tenant, and I as the secondary tenant. I have not broken our lease in any shape or form and always pay my rent on time. I do pay my half of the rent to my roommate and my monthly pet fee goes to my landlord. These stipulations are per my landlord. Does my roommate legally have the right to evict me in the state of Minnesota?

I would think that since you're on the lease and haven't done anything to break it, your roommate can't really do anything to kick you out, especially since the landlord doesn't know anything about it.

There is a Renting sub-forum on here. I would check on there, but just offhand, this sounds like the roommate might not be able to keep paying 2/3rds of the rent and is looking to get the lease broken by blaming you ("Jaestays just moved out with no notice, so now I can't pay the rent"). I would maybe try actually talking to the roommate to find out what's going on.

You can also check with some sort of legal aid/renters rights service. The attorney general's site lists several and it looks like you can at least get a free consultation.
