Hey! I was wondering if anyone has been out on the lakes or heard any reports on whether the Ice is safe to go out on yet?
I was hoping to do a little early season fishing/ cross country skiing this next week.

I guess I'd just go on ahead and drive out there and see for myself.

They aren't even safe to walk on yet, let alone drive. Maybe way up north but no one has had temps cold enough for long enough to freeze the ice to safe levels.

In the Cambridge area, I drove by a lake and there was a fish house out on one! Crazy if you ask me.

Our lake doesn't have any fish houses on it yet on the south end, but I have heard snowmobiles out there. Still crazy, but some people just can't wait.

fish houses ( spearing houses) on Lake Sylvia north of Melrose.

4-wheeler parked on the ice nearby.

I bet they didn't even work up a sweat chiseling the hole

People are going out on parts of Lake Minnetonka, there was about 30+ ice yachts sailing around on Spring Park Bay last friday and over the weekend, fish houses are showing up on the smaller bays like Black Lake and Seton Lake, while some of the larger bays out by Big Island still have open spots in the middle.
