"Only positive Mississippi spoken here" was a quote by the late and controversial Mississippi governor Kirk Fordice. Regardless of your opinion of them, I'm tired of the put downs by people in and out of Mississippi. Let's showcase some people who are making a positive difference, such as this man.

People who want to ignore the flaws of a state and only talk about the positives absolutely tick me off. If you want to improve the state, you're going to have to fix the negatives. There's no getting around it. Sticking your head in the sand aren't going to make the problems go away.

Lemuria Book in Jackson. It is an oasis.

In my dreams, I wish the space for lease downstairs would become a brewpub.

I always have enjoyed Mississippi when I am there. Nice people and interesting history. The badmouthing of your state is usually by media types that have no knowledge of what its really like there, and many of the slams really are aimed at all southern states. No person who lives in the south should ever get involved in running down another southern state. Here in Tennessee most people don't do it, but occasionally some joker says something stupid about other southerners. We have enough outsiders running us down without help from our own.

That's a lie, there's plenty of people who talk about the shortcomings of other states.
Mississippi is 50th in most rankings, but that's just being negative?
