My husband is thinking of going back to school at Southern Miss. Would Hattiesburg be a good place to raise children? We homeschool so we don't care about the school systems, but we do want a safe neighborhood to raise our family. Any insight or neighborhood suggestions?

I like Petal and Oak Grove these are small towns outside the city.
There is nothing wrong with Hattieburg and there is lots of stuff to do.

Really? Aside from restaurants and throw away gyms, there really is not much to do for anyone older than 18 and younger than 30. It's either go drinking with friends, or a movie, or stay home.

This town may be great for children as there are numerous little league/youth soccer/peewee football leagues.....but theres nothing to get into but trouble once "legal" aged.
