I am looking to buy a home. I have been looking for a month now and no success. So please can you help?I would like someone in Columbia that can tell me the neighborhood that have kids playing in the streets, walking distance to a park and elementary school. Please tell me what neighborhood your in? Please Please....
I want to find a home just like my neighborhood I grew up in when I was a child. I am looking for neighborhood that has sidewalk to walk/ride bike with my dogs and not close to busy streets since I have kids and dogs. Also I want to keep my kids active by playing outside so in order to do that I need to find kids that are close in the neighborhood and at Halloween their is crowd of kids going door to door, Fourth of July we have a huge block party. Is there such a thing in Columbia community? Please point me the way.

Sorry, but I don't have an answer to either question. As to your first one-- I'm not sure such a neighborhood exists any place besides the smallest of towns, and there's a tradeoff for such places-- few services, typically moribund economy.

That is interesting you picked Shepard. It is very close to the freeway... Your are talking about where Shepard Elementary is right?

Yes, Shepard Elementary is in the Shepard neighborhood. There's also a small city park across the street from the school. Great neighborhood. There is no freeway in Columbia - you're talking about Hwy 63. There is a fence that separates the highway from the entire area. Most of the neighborhood is not close to the highway. Another option is Russell Blvd. Elementary. There are going to be some major roads surrounding some of that area too. Columbia is a pretty good sized place to think that kids and dogs can run freely without worrying about traffic.

I have talked to my realtor about this. She said in her neighborhood she goes trick or treating then go down a few blocks but I can't afford her neighborhood so I am looking else where.

Your home will surely have a cozy atmosphere and you could be able to invite friends over and have a barbecue.
I love having friends over. and kids too. Oh I forgot the Furbabies

I grew up in the Fairview area and there are lots of parks and sidewalks there, and the school is excellent. My mom sees a lot of deer around there too, esp in the evening and early morning. It still looks like a lot of kids play around there, though not as much as when I was a kid. It's a nice neighborhood, but society has changed.

I live in Parkade North/Parkade Heights, and it's really a family area. Lots and lots of kids (I go through about $15 worth on candy on Halloween). Good house prices...there are two 4 bedroom places for sale within a block or two of my place right now.

4 bedroom 2 1/2 bath, 2,066 sq. ft., $154.900

2312 Bridgewater Driv Dr, Columbia, MO, 65202 - MLS #324075 - Single Family Home real estate - REALTOR.com® (http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/2312-Bridgewater-Driv-Dr_Columbia_MO_65202_1114052557 - broken link)

4 bedroom 3 1/2 bath, 2,605 sq. ft., $189.900

I'd also be looking in the University Park area, and that part of the Southwest.
