Okay can anyone fill me in on these? We have seen several homes with these and not quite sure what to think about them. Do buyers in the area run from houses with them? We don't have them in WI...I keep picturing my young sons coming home covered in poo after falling in...

lol My first two houses [both in MO] actually had these; as does many others in various areas. For better or worse, due to the type of soil and/or rock layers within the ground, a normal septic system will not work properly/safely/efficiently - so an above ground disposal is then necessary [unless close enough for city hook-up, which I have never had either]. As long as the lagoon is allowed to 'work' naturally and w/o a lot of inappropriate items such as garbage disposal waste and harmful detergents, is of adequate size, and is properly fenced, there should be minimum of problems. Of course, good to have it on the downwind side of the residence...

Might check these out for some additional info:

ps: its also kinda unpleasant when your hound comes from that direction, and wants to give ya a big slobbery kiss!!!
