Saw a sign today on the former Zea’s at Airport and University for a Juicy Seafood Restaurant. Looks like it’s a national chain with the closest in Montgomery. https://www.thejuicyseafoodusa.com. Has anyone ever visited their restaurant in other cities?

Interesting, I'll have to try it when it opens. However, I sure miss Zea's. I recently ate at the one in New Orleans and had forgotten how good the balsamic salmon is.

An article from last year about the Mobile location closing said the company is looking to branch out:

"Zea now has nine locations in Louisiana, with a tenth store underway in Baton Rouge. The company is negotiating on another location in Jackson, Miss., and is "poking around" in Arkansas and Tennessee, as well."

I agree with that sentiment. Also gotta wonder why a coastal city, with presumably innumerable local seafood places, would actually want a chain eatery. Would anybody go when they can get the real thing so easily?

That's the same thing I was thinking. Mobile has a lot of seafood joints and usually seafood chains don't do well but this maybe an exception hopefully. Maybe we can traid you guys for the Pies and Pints that's comming to midcity lol.

It almost reminds me of the seafood restaurant that lasted a few months on Azalea (Sam's). Hattiesburg had 2 locations with a slightly different name, one of which was actually in the mall in the former Garfield's spot. I believe they've since closed...

I had the Sam's here in Mobile a few times, it was good and cheap, but the portions seemed large and was probably killing them on the bottom line.

I remember seeing the banner on the building and saw the list of cities they were in, but couldn't recall the name until I came across this post. Looking on the web, it seems like a very loose franchise.... So we shall see what will become of them.

Regarding Zea, I wish they were still around too...might give them a try next time I'm in the suburbs of New Orleans...
