Our local Winco is almost new, only a couple years old (tho the store already has kindof a beat-up aura; unfortunately that's typical of SoCal groceries, other than Albertsons which is always pristine.) From what you say it sounds like Winco structures what each store offers depending on their local customer base, which is probably why our manager can special-order stuff -- a sensible policy. -- Ours is in one of the lowest-income areas of CA and that doubtless makes for a different picture than even the same money in an area that is "middle class" in another state.
I saved all those bulk seasoning containers and now I'm glad I did -- now they are full of refills from Winco (which also sells the same containers empty!)
Among the new bulk offerings I found today was -- pork rinds!!
They also have "Pilot bread" which looks suspiciously like C-ration crackers to me. <tastes the one I bought to see> Bleh... not nearly as good. Tho the pork rinds are excellent!

Agreed there!! I didn't know it had a name -- can you buy it in dried form like pork rinds? When I fry a chicken, all I really want of it is the crispy skin (I eat the skin, then I'm not sure what to do with the rest of the chicken!) -- definitely my favourite part of fried chicken!! and I've sometimes let skin scraps cook down like that and oh are they good.
The pork rinds from Winco are so good partly because they're denser than usual, and have that same deep buttery taste as fried chicken skin!!

I've never seen
gribenes sold in a dried form.
It's typically a homemade product, and the chicken skin is fried in
schmaltz (= rendered chicken fat).

I liked the old stadiums. The new ones are interchangeable. The old ones had character , and shaped the teams that called them home.

They also have "Pilot bread" which looks suspiciously like C-ration crackers to me. <tastes the one I bought to see> Bleh... not nearly as good. Tho the pork rinds are excellent!
