Hey guys,

My wife and I are considering a move to Montana. She has her own fair/festval food vending business. What towns in Montana have fair's and festival's that will give her the opportunity to continue this business if we move to Montana. She is use to driving to different festivals. What do Y'all think?

Jim

Unfortunately it's probably not like it used to be. More and more, fair grounds have become privately owned expo centers. As such, permits, fees, etc apply.

However, I think a business that is mobile like that can do well in Montana. There is always something going on, fairs, rodeo's, carnivals, etc... I don't think she would have a problem if she was centrally located so she could hit all of them.

Fairs during the long winter are not so frequent, but from June to September, most larger towns have farmer's market, which would be the most likely place to have a food booth.

Each county has their own set of regulations too. If you come to the Trout Creek Huckleberry Festival I may be eating at your chuck wagon.
I have been doing fairs and festivals part time as a jewelry vendor for over half my life and in Montana I see the longest lines at the food vendors who sell real BBQ or Mexican food. Every one I know is so tired of the same old dogs, fries and burgers that most of the food vendors sell. The summer fest in Anaconda is a good one too.
