Hey all!

So I'm definitely enjoying the Monterey area, thank you all for all your advice and contributions so far.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good cave to explore in the Monterey area. I'm not into spelunking really, more of the cave tour type. I've looked online a little bit, but so far it seems that most are the day hike, shallow kind.

And if you have any other suggestions on a good day activity, feel free to share.

Glad to hear you guys are enjoying the area. Quite honestly Monterey Co. is not known for caves. The only ones I know of more sea caves which are right along the coast. They are not like the larger caverns one might explore with groups though. Here are a few smaller ones I've shot.

Sand Dollar Beach:

Pfeiffer Beach:

Pinnacles National Park has some caves. Though the Big Eared Bats seem to partially closing one of them:

Here is some more sea cave stuff up in Mendocino County which looks fun via kayak: http://paddleblogs.com/thorn91/categ...cino-sea-cave/

For other good day activities look into hiking Big Sur. There are many, many beautiful hikes:

Another great day activity is whale watching which has been especially active lately.

Ooooh those are amazing pictures! Not exactly what I had in mind to begin with, but those look incredible in their own right. I have looked a little bit into the hiking at Big Sur. We've gone hiking up Garrapata which was fun, and very intense, but I would like to do more. Thank you for your help!

While not natural caves, the abandoned gold mines of the Los Burros district in Southern Monterey County can be explored.
