I'll be returning from the USA Sunday evening Jan 5.As the border (Champlain)is several miles past the last exit theres no way to tell how long the lineup is till its too late to take an alternate route to another border. Is there anyway to find out how long the lineup is before you get there? a phone number or app perhaps?
Thanks

I used to drive up I87 all the time. Get off at the Rouses Point exit, turn right on Route 11, then left on Mason (about 5 miles). About a mile up that road is the Canadian border. I have done this dozens of times and I have never had more than 3-4 cars there. Very often at night I would be the only car. Once across, take the first left back to the 15.

I've crossed this border many times. It's all a matter of timing. Sometimes there is no line, sometimes I've waited about 20 minutes. No big deal.

When will the train start bypassing the Rousses Point border customs checkpoint & proceed directly to/from Gare Centrale?

As I mentioned in another thread, they already have pre-clearance by US Customs at the Vancouver train station. I don't know why they can't do the same for Montreal.
