Hey guys,

I recently heard that Maxwell's is closing down. I have not been able to find any information about the closure. Has anyone heard why?

BTW, as I am relatively new here, if I am posting stuff that is inappropriate for this messageboard, just let me know. I get the impression it is meant more for people that move here. With that said, I don't know of many other messageboards that these types of things can be discussed. Apologies in advance if I'm wrong.

I hadn't heard anything about that. I do know that particular business has been in that location for half a century, going under the name "My Brothers Place" in the early 1960s.

Murph, we welcome any good conversation about our town. And there was an article in the DP last week (I think) about Maxwell's changing owners. I don't have a subscription, so I didn't read it. I did know someone who was a potential buyer, but I'm not sure how far that actually went. I'll see if I can find out anything else.

If it's just a new owner, I doubt they change much. It will probably be business as usual.

You are correct. They are going out of business per their High Street chalk sign

I've only been a few times in the three years I have lived here, but they were always packed for brunch when I went... Service was a mixed bag, but food was consistent and what you would expect for the price.

Yeah I'm suprised they closed. Their food was good and they always seemed to have a decent crowd. I wonder if there is more to it than financial performance

The owners were old and running a restaurant is a lot of work. Maybe they are retiring.
