I'm a first time home buyer, I'm using CREFCO for my USDA loan. I've been sent to the final stage of the underwriter after sending in the conditions that were required. My question is does the underwriter tell the loan agent that the file has been sent to the USDA office. My file was sent to the underwriter on Feb 22,2017 and Its the 27th of February and I haven't heard anything from the underwriter, not call back from my loan officer. I was told I would close by the 10th of March. Is there anyway to find out if the USDA received my file.

You would ask your Loan Officer and your Loan Officer would tell you because your Loan Officer knows this.

Your loan officer should know if your loan has been sent to USDA yet, and when to expect it back. Our USDA office updates daily how many days out they are regarding processing loans. The lenders I use typically check this daily when I have a USDA loan in process.

Time spent at USDA really depends on how many loans they are dealing with. I have seen them at 7 days one day, and it jumps to 13 the next day. Our site shows loans being processed by date received so that usually gives us a good idea of when the loan might come back from USDA. Once it does, you should be able to close pretty quickly (will usually go thru underwriting one more time then you have the three day TRID waiting period).
