I have just a quick question….it’s really to settle an argument with my wife. Here it is.

Do you know of anywhere in your area…where you could find a small nice home or condo for $160,000 or less? We have about $160,000 in cash to spend. We do not want a mortgage. We are minimalists…who spend most of our time outdoors anyway. A safe, decent, area for kids is the only criteria…bit it’s a must.

I just moved from this area. Beautiful, safe, very nice homes in that price range, simple way of life. You'll be giving up proximity to large cities and cultural diversity though.

Where I live it might buy a newer condo or a fixer. In some of the surrounding communities it might go further and get you more house for the money, especially if you found a short sale or foreclosure.

32003 Real Estate & 32003 Homes For Sale — Trulia.com

It looks like a condo or a plot of land.

Other than that, It could buy a nice boat or a luxury car.

Or a nice trip out of town.
