We live in NJ now and are moving to Florida soon. Will be listing our house for sale in the next month. We have been told that we would be able to get pre approval in NJ and it can be used in FL. My husband is going to work for the same company down in FL as here in NJ but we are not sure of how much he will be making down there yet. Can his income up here be used to get a pre approval letter to use in Florida? I understand that a pre approval letter is only good for 3 months so its going to be hard to figure out when to get this done. Who knows how long its going to take to sell our house in NJ.

Any advice is much appreciated!

Get the preapproval as soon as possible. That way if there are any issues you can start working on those now, instead of rushing to try to get things done to get your loan closed.

As far as what income, i would suggest that you use an amount equal to the least he will make. Much better to qualify based ona 80k per year income but it turns out to be 100k, than to qualify on a 100k income but it turns out to be 80k. Prepare for worse, strive for best!
