They're trying to sell Russell Brand as the new Peter Sellers I just don't see it. I find him rather obnoxious and very flip about his approach to everything, hosting award shows, doing interviews... everything.

It seems to me that Hollywood has really run out of fresh ideas and because of this they just rewrite and rehash old movies for a new audience.

The film is a comedy classic and was one of the top movies of 1981.

The song of the original Arthur was at the top of the charts and the film won two Oscars - Best Supporting Actor - John Gielgud, and Original Song.

This has to be a better film than the original and not some mediocre junk.

Russell Brand shows off rock-hard abs as he films Arthur remake... shame they aren't his | Mail Online

Ditto that! There is no way this film will be as good as the original. I hate these re-makes! I have never seen a single one that is even remotely as good as the original film or TV show.

A couple of generations will never have heard of Dudley Moore so its like a new film to them. I hope Russell Brand can give a performance as good as or better than Moore's in the 1981 version. Also Helen Mirren has been cast in John Gielgud's role as the valet Hobson. In many ways this is a horrible idea from an industry that appears to have no limit to horrible ideas. Hollywood should keep their hands off certain movies. Some have already been damaged by bad sequels, but good luck finding Caddyshack 2 at blockbusters. It's to late for Arthur the cameras are rolling.

So what's next? A remake of 10? Who would be as iconic today as Bo was back then?

Yes...we REALLY need a remake of Arthur.
Nothing "funnier" than a movie about an alcoholic in New York City.

He can't touch Dudley Moore's character I'm sure. He only has one switch and that's "manic". If he's not playing some kinda wild haired madman he's out of his realm.

Every time I see Russell Brand on t.v. I turn the channel. I won't pay to watch any of his movies either. Where did they find this guy? Who thinks he's funny? What he lacks in talent he throws in a diversion tactic by being obnoxious.

Why is Hollywood pushing this guy?

Peter Sellers he is NOT!
