What movies are overlooked because the have the same title as a different movie?

One of my favorite examples is "Wonderland", an excellent British movie in 1998, that is sadly overlooked because the Americans came out 4 years later with a movie by the same name. The British "Wonderland", with a great cast, actually has a higher IMDB user rating than the American one, but is seldom seen.

Another is "Last Night", a quirky Canadian film with an unknown Sandra Oh, made in 1998, and a more popular movie by the same name in 2010

A few others of my favorites that are very hard to look up on IMDB, because there are a dozen or more others with the same name:
"The Lover" 1992
"Heaven" 2002
"Sunday" 1997

Not to mention the penchant of the Americans to shlock together a version with the same title based on (and usually vaguely resembling) an excellent foreign film, like "Insomnia" and "Solaris".

I think the movies with overly long, complicated titles get short-shrifted, because many people can't get past the title:

The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
The Unbearable Lightness of Being
The Incredibly Strange Creatures who Stopped Living and Became Mixed Up Zombies (well maybe this one did suck, but had to include it because of the title)
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

Don't forget "The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade ". Commonly known as "Marat/Sade".

"The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford"

And as to the OP, I recently watched "Hunger" about the Irish hunger strikers in the early 80s. When I was trying to find reviews to read afterward, there were a number of films with the same or a similar title.

You're spot on with this post. Rep points for mentioning "Solaris". I'm sure most people have not seen the original.

Just caught a movie on a cable network from 1998 that I had never heard of before, called, "The Legend of 1900". Probable never heard of it because of the title. After I watched it, I read the critiques on IMDB, and saw that I wasn't the only one wondering why it didn't get as much play.
