Once again they are ignoring everything after "Aliens" (the bad movie) in an attempt to complete the series 'properly.' IMO, what was was and they should just let it die as is.

On the one hand, I'm fine with ignoring everything Alien3 and after. Those were horrible movies. Truly awful.
That said ... yeah, I'd much rather see Blomkamp and Weaver team up on something new rather than fighting xenomorphs again.
Because it did absolutely nothing that the previous 2 movies did better in every way, from characters to pacing to plot to aesthetics.
Because its idea of "edgy" was to have every character drop the F-bomb in every other sentence --- and shave everyone's head. So in the future we have interstellar travel but we still have to shave heads to get rid of lice. Really?
Because the previous movie made us love Newt, Hicks, and Bishop, and Alien3 killed them in the opening credits, presumably because these super smart tough-as-nails characters were all too stupid to check the ship for aliens before going into cryo-sleep. This for me was the biggest deal breaker. ALIEN and ALIENS had been telling a story. A story with a beginning, middle, and end. If you are going to add to that and say, "There is more to this story," then your first scene can't be taking a big poop all over the first two movies. You need to build on what was there before, not tear it down.

I absolutely agree everything after " Aliens" was a waste of time and every copy of those films should be burned. But again we're left asking " why?" Why all the pointless remakes of classic films? I'll bet it's that damn robot Awesome O.
I didn't think 3 was so so bad. It shows Ripley's belief about the aliens destructive power and dedication to not let the alien escape by killing herself. Now the one where's she's been brought back with alien DNA was pretty bad although there were a couple good lines.
